What Is

Where is what is,
When we are blinded by the night,
Only seeing what is present,
In today’s sunlight?
Yesterday is hidden,
From the perception of our eyes,
While today is but a moment,
Underneath the passing skies.

We leave our homes each morning,
To battle windmills in the fields,
Though we can not see them,
Our homes remain real.
We find our homes again,
At the start of every night,
Though not visible in the distance,
They are found by faith’s light.

God‘s vision does not need,
The suns imperfect rays,
All our days are clear before him,
His heart sees clear always.
Our hearts feel those gone before,
As if they were here today,
For the truth through time’s illusion,
Is they never went away.

Standing on this ancient ground,
Where the Padres raised their prayers,
Their voices heard with ours,
For the mission is still there.
All things past and future,
Are seen as one from up above,
And time’s illusion falls away,
When we see through love.

To Love a Woman

Your eyes look at the outside world,
Wondering who is truly looking in,
Like the rose undiscovered within the seed,
Your heart longs to be found.

A blind man can feel your beauty,
Using only the sound of your voice,
Undistracted by the vessel only the eyes perceive.
He can see the eternal beauty of your soul.

Oh God let my mind not distract me,
For only the heart has vision to see the truth,
When the soul speaks a language far beyond words,
May my lips not utter a sound.

When your joy is beyond your ability to understand,
My life will be without measure,
For loving you without conditions and limits,
Is truly the greatest pleasure.

Dreams Made Real

Dreams would be nothing,
Without reality to carry them through.
 Stars would not shine,
 Without the backdrop of night.
The sun and rain are opposites,
 Yet one requires the other,
 For either on its own,
 Would not bring life.

 Some dream in black-and-white,
 Yet you dream in color,
I dream in song,
As I hear the notes by day.
 Dreams may come by night,
Yet they are not limited to darkness,
For passion brings them to reality,
Through our hearts dreams come alive.

Where love rules,
Life becomes a dream,
 Every day moments become treasures,
Spent with the ones you love.
 Hardships become opportunities,
 To turn anxiety into peace,
 Trials into solutions,
Through the work of your hands.

Dreams are seeds of power,
Planted in the fields of the world,
Giving rise to new realities,
Beneath the skies above.
Thought energy of the heart,
Yet all matter is just energy,
Are we all the dream of God,
Made real by love?

The Illusion of Endings

We are the sum of our experiences,
 You are all of mine.
 I awoke within your eyes,
To fall asleep within your arms.
Your smile is within my heart,
And my heart beats within you.

I swore to be with you always,
Where was I at that moment?
You swore to share with me of things,
How is it I did not know this?
Somethings are more powerful than us,
But nothing is more powerful than love.

I cannot hope to blame you,
For what I do not understand.
I can only say I miss you,
As I miss the warmth of your hand.
Yet when the day is done,
I pray in my dreams you will come.

I will never be who I was,
Because I am part of you.
And yet I will go on in love,
Because I hold on to what is true.
You will always live within my heart,
Within the power of love we will not part.

The Cost of Joy

The scope of love is endless,
 As is the human heart.
There can be no true ending,
When one cannot find the start.
 Yet free will is present,
Which makes love require a choice.
 No heart can be conquered,
When the actions match the voice.

There is a key to happiness,
 No secret to employ.
Investing into other hearts,
 Is the cost of joy.

 Joy is not entitled,
There are decisions and hard work.
 The sweat of focused effort,
 Behind every smile lurks.
 Because happiness can’t happen,
 Unless it is desired.
 For happiness is fueled,
From the heat of passion’s fire.

There is a key to happiness,
 No secret to employ.
Investing into other hearts,
 Is the cost of joy.

 This is not a condition,
This is a way of life.
This is the bond of fire,
 Between a man and wife.
 This is the gentle healing,
That cures each hurt and pain.
This is the way of life,
Which never leaves one the same.

There is a key to happiness,
 No secret to employ.
Investing into other hearts,
 Is the cost of joy.

The path bears all the imprints,
 Of legendary hearts.
All the nameless and the named,
 To whom love did impart.
 The meaning and the joys,
Of the endless song of living,
The great effort towards this joy,
Is to never stop giving.

There is a key to happiness,
 No secret to employ.
Investing into other hearts,
 Is the cost of joy.

Song of Silence

 Imagine a silence,
 No waves of distraction,
 Where colors become music,
 Images become thought,
 Thought becomes reality,
 Forged by fires of inspiration,
 Adding to the picture,
 Seen by other souls,
 As they look upon reality,
 With vision of the heart.

This forms the tapestry,
Where one life affects many,
Sepearate journeys intertwine,
Magic comes thorough courage,
 For no challenge is unshared,
A hand will reach through the darkness,
 To guide the weary traveler,
Who does not see the trail,
Though he hears the silent song,
 Upon the winds of faith.

The eyes may see new lands,
While the senses taste new joys,
 Broadening the mind,
The only the heart can truly see,
 Beyond the chatters of distraction,
 The mystery of life,
Shows in clues behind the eyes,
And markings on the stones,
Along with wonders in the sky,
Which words could never share.

When a dog is looking peacefully
Up into your eyes,
How much does he feel,
Of what most will never see?
It is upon this silent river,
Which souls forever sail,
Where souls impart their image,
Upon the hearts of all they meet,
Pushing back the boundaries,
Of Eternity.

Stones of Fire

The simplicity of magic,
Is joining passion with persistence,
Never giving up,
Makes imagination real.
The first essential need,
Bringing magic into life,
A non-negotiable term,
It is the skill to feel.

To feel is not entitled,
It is a skill to be honed,
A stone requiring polish,
Each and every day.
It’s glory comes through pain,
Made more precious through the fire,
Adding beauty to the world,
In a very special way.

Along the way are stones,
Each a different color,
Catching the light of God,
Creating a rainbow through love.
A precious stone enfolded,
Within gray rock of the earth,
Requires free will sparks of change,
To capture the glorious light from above.

With many colored gemstones,
Beneath the sun’s rays,
Each one will reflect,
A different hue of fire.
Let our feelings reflect,
God’s perfect light above,
Through the colors of our gifts,
And love will take it higher.

Flow of Love

Moments of binding,
On paths intertwining,
Happen in times of pain,
When tragedy strikes,
Anxiety spikes,
And no one is ever the same.

A daughter is lost,
On one path afar,
In illness taken away,
Yet hearts come together,
In the stormiest weather,
And healing comes when we pray.

Cancer then comes,
Like a lightening strike,
To homes of those we know,
Though no one controls,
Where lightening strikes,
We control the love that we show.

A friend loosing sight,
The coming of night,
Darkness far too soon,
Yet with bringing of hope,
The heart’s fire is stoked,
On horizon a miracle looms.

We can not control,
When circumstance comes,
But we can co tell what we do,
For the simplest things,
From hearts far and near,
 And help pull someone through.

Your faith in God,
Fuels the fires of love,
The energy flows when you share,
Healing comes through,
The power of your heart,
When you choose to be there.

Fractured Souls

 In us and through us,
 They walk and they wonder,
 Through trials and through tears,
 Their hearts torn asunder,
 Hearts crying in the darkness,
 Voices silenced by the night,
 Souls looking upward for hope,
 Through perforations seeing starlight.

 Some have lost their children,
 Young lives taken away,
 Innocent blood crying to God,
 Parents with nothing to say,
 Others have lost their health,
 Time quickly slipping away,
 In battle against unseen foes,
Within the clear light of day.

These souls walk and breathe with us,
 Sometimes with close ties,
 Others unknown amidst the crowds,
And we look into their eyes,
The impact rolls from life to lives,
 As pain can only flow,
If left unchecked by faithful hearts,
Who knows where this can go.

 We cannot control what occurs,
 But only what we do,
Yet chances come for us to love,
With choice for me and you,
 For none can resist,
 This power to persist,
 No fears rise above,
When there is only love.

My Rose

For my Ewa

 Within my garden,
 Lemons shimmer like the sun,
 Passionfruit instills passion,
For in the center of it all,
 There is my Rose.

 Within my garden,
 There is laughter,
 We are joyous hearts converge,
Four in the center of it all,
  Shines my Rose.

 She grows in my heart,
 Giving my heart meaning,
 She perfumes my soul,
 Giving my life joy,
Among the many she is the one.

I have flown through the stars,
 Seeing all of their beauty,
 Feeling all of their energy,
 For the center of beauty,
 Is my Rose.

 Upon the edge of forever,
 I see the unending,
For from the heart of God,
 Came this fountain of love,
 From my Rose.

Never Undone

This was written after I heard of the untimely passing of Delores O’Riordan who was the lead singer of The Cranberries but I am remembering everyone including David Bowie.  Hearing their voices in song is a reminder of the truth that none of us are separated, it only seems that way.  The language of music is a reminder that all hearts are bound together through love.

 Music always surrounds us,
You can hear it in the breeze,
 Encouraging a warrior in battle,
Bringing the faithful to their knees.
 Through every voice resounding,
Some here and some far away,
They live in our world or our hearts,
And you can hear each one of them say.

 In colors we are many,
In love we are but one,
The language of hearts is music,
 In song that’s never undone.

Her voice came through from Ireland,
In sounds of flight like a bird,
 The Irish cries of love,
Like nothing we have ever heard,
Another voice came from England,
 His sounds enchanting the night,
His heart speaking through different colors,
And his eyes shone of two different lights.

 In colors we are many,
In love we are but one,
The language of hearts is music,
 In song that’s never undone.

Hear many who walked on our paths,
Many who is races are run,
Hear more in the dawn’s sweet whispers,
With voices that have not begun.
They all sing a song unchanging,
In sunshine and in the rain,
 No matter the day’s circumstance,
 The song remains the same.

 In colors we are many,
In love we are but one,
The language of hearts is music,
 In song that’s never undone.

Their songs reflect through radios,
From the true sound in our hearts,
From the sweet reminder of music,
The truth will not depart,
Together we lift our voices,
Until the angels sing on high,
Forever we lift our voices,
The sound not contained by the sky.

 In colors we are many,
In love we are but one,
The language of hearts is music,
 In song that’s never undone.

The Song of Whispers

 Who has walked that streets,
 That I’ve walked before?
 The present sunlight falling,
 Has closed open doors.
 The sidewalk dirt is stamped,
 With the years gone by.
 Hence the raindrops falling,
 From a tear filled sky.

 Air touches skin,
 Sounds touches ears,
 These senses are sisters.
 Souls cross thresholds,
 With faces unseen,
 In the song of whispers.

 Those who lived and passed,
 Never pass away.
 Safe within their timelines,
 They will always stay.
For the body is not immortal,
Yet the soul keeps on living,
To the ears of patient parts,
From heaven this song keeps giving.

 Air touches skin,
 Sounds touches ears,
 These senses are sisters.
 Souls cross thresholds,
 With faces unseen,
 Through the song of whispers.

 Lives will come and go,
 But can they be forgotten?
 Is forever not the gift,
 Of God’s only begotten?
 There is no greater hope,
 Then life can ever bring.
 Then the gift of love,
 Transcending everything.

 Air touches skin,
 Sounds touches ears,
 These senses are sisters.
 Souls cross thresholds,
 Which only hearts can hear,
 Silent song of whispers.

 In silence hear their voices,
In silence the heart may hear,
 The endless song of life,
 Removing every fear,
This flame from God we carry,
 Where ever we may go,
 No hope is rendered hopeless,
The light of truth will show.

  Air touches skin,
 Sounds touches ears,
 These senses are sisters.
 Souls cross thresholds,
 With faces unseen,
 The song of whispers.

The Patient Heart

 In  the ocean of spirits,
 We found a heart.
 In the sea of life,
  We found a soul.
 Following the wind,
 We followed the calling.
 For only when exploring,
 Can you find home.

 In speaking of science,
 In speaking of living,
 In speaking of loving,
 We spoke the truth.
 In the bonds of laughter,
 In the bonds of friendship,
  In the bonds of faith,
 Finding freedom of youth.

 Time took a backseat,
 Because Earth is the stage,
 Where we might add,
 Good things to Heaven.
 For each soul is endless,
 But the heart sees forever,
 Then the moment stood still,
 For time is illusion.

 We watched as she listened,
 We listened as she spoke,
 Each chance to gain more,
 Being nothing but joy,
 What is to long for,
 What is to live for,
What is to love for,
 We are faith is employed.

 Kindred spirits,
 Who found soulmates,
 From each other,
 Will not depart,
 It all begins,
 From choosing joy,
 This is the wisdom,
 Of the patient heart.

Exploration

 How high is up,
 And how far is away?

What is not seen  first in the heart,
Is seldom found with the mind,
 Scope has no limit,
 Except within the mind,
For the eyes can see barriers,
While the heart can see forever,
 Yet even the universe,
 Has no visible boundaries.

 Where are the boundaries,
 When things are unseen?

Beneath the surface reflections,
Lie the depths of unseen truth.
 Here the eyes lose  authority,
And the way must be felt,
 For touch can go far,
 But only with the physical,
 While the treasure of reality,
 Lies beyond our fingertips.

 Is travel possible,
 Without the need to move?

 Motion is just an attempt,
To deal with the illusion of distance,
While we move in our futility,
 Hawking explores the universe,
As the knowledge of his condition,
 Inspired exploration with his mind,
For the love within his heart,
Gave him the strength to persevere.

What is the mystery of love,
 Which time has not unraveled?

 Love manifests in reality,
 Through the action of creation,
Love breaches the gates of Hell,
 Through the sacrifice of desires,
Love voids the power of death,
 Through the joining of souls,
For a day not exploring love,
 Truly is a day wasted.

Angels Among Us

 Underneath the tree,
 Lying in her pain,
 Underneath a tree,
 Beaten close to death.
 Wounded in her heart,
 Scars upon her soul,
 Unable to stand,
 Alone and bereft.

 Together we did talk,
 A chance meeting of souls,
 Together we did walk,
 With wheelchair in hand,
She just could not make it,
 To the hospital so far,
 Alone and with no strength,
She just would not make it.

Can you see the  girl playing?
She is laughing with her friend,
 The little girl is playing,
She does not see this before her,
 None could see this coming,
 No one would want it,
 Lying helpless beneath a tree,
It would send the bravest running.

She is still a human being,
 Beneath the dirt and filth,
She is still a human being,
 Someone's child and a woman,
But pray for an angel to come,
 God always sends somebody,
Yet there is no one on the street,
Perhaps you are the angel to come.
Perhaps she is an angel in disguise?
 Scripture states that this happens,
Would you miss the chance to reach out?
Would you miss a chance to touch God?

The Quiet Before The Storm

 The dark clouds approached,
 Like a freight train coming,
 Riding a cold wind,
 Taking away the light,
 Riding a cold wind,
 Taking away the sound.

 The birds have stopped singing,
 As they feel the monster,
 Hiding behind the hills,
 They feel it coming,
 Hiding behind the hills,
 They know it is there.

Rearing its head with a flash,
 Lightning announces its presence,
 Flooding the land with vengeance,
 The monster releases its rage,
 Flooding the land with vengeance,
 As thunder embraces the heart.

 The storms will come,
 Taking away our strength,
Yet God brings us through them,
 While building up our souls,
Yet God brings us through them,
 Strengthening our hearts.

 After the storm has passed,
We return to open the window,
To see the light stream through the clouds,
 Bathing the land in color,
To see the lifestream through the clouds,
 Rearranging beauty within the song.

It is God who brings the storms,
 Bringing energy back into life,
The rains come down upon us,
 And wash away our tears,
The rains come down upon us,
So we may come into full bloom.

Always

The music I hear is timeless,
 As is your love,
Sitting in a café this morning,
It is 1943 to my ears,
Yet my heart knows no years,
Though my eyes say you are far,
And the date is really today,
You are close with me forever,
 Always.

 The sun rose as before,
As it always seems to do,
To the birds a day like others,
To me it is fresh and new,
 Because I always have you,
There is never an end to joy,
 Hardship is only an illusion,
For love is all that is real,
 Always.

 The leaders will always follow,
The paths set for them before,
The papers play there lonely games,
Yet he who follows his heart,
 Will never have strength depart,
The chaos may rule the day,
Peace will rule over his soul,
Flowing from the heart of God,
 Always.

I dance with you through time,
The illusion bringing order to space,
That we may comprehends our lives,
Though time has no beginning or end,
 And love through all transcends,
As this song of life binds souls,
With meaning no words can describe,
Though I dance it with you night and day,
 Always.

Trying Not to Write

 I succeeded,
I did not write a thing!
 And I always write something,
 On the walk,
 Or in the café,
 For in life,
There is too much to share,
 Should I stop,
 Or do I even dare?
 It keeps on unfolding,
 This thing we call life,
 Through times of joy,
 Even in trial or strife,
For to stop is a sin,
 And a new day begins,
There is more to do and say,
 Even in the same places,
 Even with the same faces,
For whom in time and space,
 Has ever defined life?
 I keep trying,
 And I keep writing,
Even in this effort not to write,
 And people keep living,
 And keep giving,
 Experiencing,
 Laughing,
 Crying,
 Hurting,
 And loving,
In the day and in the night,
And so this is my effort,
 Trying not to write.

Sacrifice

 Time given,
 An action done,
 Words spoken,
 A battle won,
 With love required,
 There is a cost,
 To make a change,
 From battles lost,
 Results not seen,
 Still may come,
 For things go forth,
 From where they come,
 And acts of love,
 Have the best start,
 For where they come,
 Is from the heart,
 And other lives,
They often change,
 For energy,
 Will rearrange,
 And change of course,
 Others will voice,
  Changing perspective,
 Is freedom of choice,
 Though from a cost,
 Comes all things nice,
 They would not be,
 Without sacrifice.

Transference

The heart is a river,
 Through which creation flows,
 Words and actions done,
Blow through the air like leaves,
 Person to person,
 From each blows many,
 Affecting lives around them,
 Through joy or through pain.

 For just a single word,
Can inspire a life of confidence,
A choice from freedom of will,
To lead a life of peace,
 Not in worry about others,
Knowing God has all in hand,
Others feeling this strength in turn,
 Reciprocating joy and peace.

For free will is the key,
 Unlocking beauty of the heart,
As the artist must be willing,
To pick up his or her brush,
To choose a palette of joy,
Field with the colors of life,
From the heart then flows a picture,
Either of pain or of joy.

For just a smile given to one,
 Is often seen by many,
And turn one of those souls,
 From a darkened day,
 Who would have planted seeds,
 Of anger from her pain,
 Turning many hearts to darkness,
And one smile brings light again.

 Every moment is a universe,
 And every decision a timeline,
 Affecting time and space,
From free will in just one place,
An action or a word of love,
 Spreading light like a fire,
 For transference is a power,
 Bringing meaning back to life.
