They walk among us,
Young smiles and faces,
In all towns and places,
Each from a story,
Each one a story,
In the tapestry of life.
Voices of laughter raised,
A song upon a heart,
A life within its start,
Interrupted abruptly,
Replaced with silence,
An empty place at the table.
Rooms filled with memories,
Pictures of acheivement,
Replaced with bereavement,
So fast without warning,
Voices lingering in the air,
Whispers upon the wind.
The angels look down in horror,
Stunned in disbelief,
Longing to give relief,
To the souls rising toward them,
As their tears fall below,
Raining upon the clouds.
Yet here we are in the day,
The sun rises through open doors,
The birds sing as before,
As if nothing below them has changed,
While we awake to a different world,
Without the ones we love.
Yet the power of love is intense,
Never appears as a pretense,
Never becoming past tense,
For their hearts beat on around us,
In the endless kingdom of Heaven,
Which knows no boundary or pain.
So let your hearts be an open window,
That the light of their lives shine through you,
The love of their hearts with in you,
So the good of each one becomes you,
Their voices present in life's song,
Embraced by our Father in Heaven.
