The Whispering Rain

The other afternoon I was helping my wife work inside.  I think it was Sunday.  She is in a walking cast, but insisted on sitting and ironing.  I was putting stuff away for her (the "leg" work) and helping by folding.  Then I went to clean the kitchen, but all the while I felt terribly down.  After the kitchen was done I went to the laptop and wrote this in 10 minutes.  I suppose it is about coping with pain and hardship which seems to be happening all around.  Yesterday I received a call from my friend's ex-wife to find out he was killed a night or two ago while walking to the house to visit his kids in the evening.  The kids are disabled and this hit like a freight train.  Visiting them could not happen last night so I grabbed a bite, went outside to make a wooden cross, my wife cut fresh roses to place, and I went out to the spot where he died.  We need to stand together in prayer even more than before.  Perhaps in the darkness, this will create an even brighter light to attract the people who have not yet chosen to live with the power and love of God.  Here is what I wrote:

Together through the ages,
Sages to our hearts,
In family fulfilled,
God’s joy in their hearts,
Until the time came,
We knew she’d say goodbye,
Living on in our hearts,
Her soul can’t be denied.

I pray dark clouds,
May find me again,
Concealing my fear,
And soothing my pain,
In the whispering rain.

My soul mate knew well,
How well she could do,
At home and at work,
She’d always see it through,
In spite of her pain,
She always makes me smile,
I would do anything,
To take away her trials.

I pray dark clouds,
May find me again,
Concealing my fear,
And soothing my pain,
In the whispering rain.

He does serve his country,
To give his family home,
My friend and brother,
No closer one I’ve known,
Yet the work did go dry,
And took away his house,
And has broken the lives,
Of my friend and his spouse.

I pray dark clouds,
May find me again,
Concealing my fear,
And soothing my pain,
In the whispering rain.

May the peace of the rains,
Wash away the pains,
Bringing in the peace,
To help us find relief,
And open up my eyes,
To see the glowing skies,
And know there is a plan,
God has us in His hands,
I will not just give way,
I go on my knees to pray,
May His strength flow through me,
And set my loved ones free,
To wash their away their pain,
So the sun may shine again,
From the whispering rain.

I pray dark clouds,
May find me again,
Concealing my fear,
And soothing my pain,

I know that God’s hand,
Will find me again,
See victory from shame,
As we rise once again,
From the whispering rain.
